HRT Consultation & Review Process

At Parkwood Clinic, we provide a structured and personalised approach to Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT), ensuring you receive ongoing support and monitoring throughout your journey. Below is an overview of the consultation process, follow-up schedule, and prescription guidelines.

Your HRT Journey

Week 1

Your journey begins with a comprehensive consultation, where we take a full medical history, discuss symptoms, and conduct blood tests to assess your hormone levels. The ultimate decision on which type of HRT is prescribed is based on your symptoms, rather than just blood test results. The initial prescription charge is included if HRT is recommended.

Week 2

A video consultation is scheduled to review your blood test results, explain what they mean, and discuss the next steps. If HRT is advised, a tailored prescription will be provided based on your symptoms and needs.

Week 3

Once your prescription is ready, you can begin your HRT journey with the agreed treatment plan. You will receive a 3-month supply to ensure you have enough medication until your next review.

o    Private HRT medication is not included in consultation fees. Patients must pay for their medication separately, with costs starting from £30 per month, depending on the type and method of administration.

week 6

A follow-up review will take place approximately 6 weeks after starting HRT to assess how you are responding, address any symptoms or concerns, and make adjustments if needed. No routine blood tests are required at this stage unless clinically necessary.

Week 11-12
(3month review)

A full review will be conducted 3 months after starting HRT to evaluate progress and hormone absorption. You can choose a standard review or include blood tests to assess your levels. If your treatment is working well, another 3-month prescription will be provided.

6 month review

Once happy with optamised hormones we can move to a 6 monthly  review to ensure ongoing balance and optimal results. Adjustments will be made if required.

Annual Review

Once stable on HRT, an annual review is recommended to assess long-term effectiveness. If required, blood tests can be done to monitor hormone levels. Depending on stability, a 6-12 month prescription may be issued

Testosterone Monitoring

For patients prescribed testosterone as part of their HRT, regular monitoring is required to ensure safe and effective dosing. Blood tests may be needed at the 3-month review and annually thereafter to check testosterone levels and absorption.

Prescription & Additional Costs

This structured approach ensures a thorough and personalised experience, allowing for safe and effective HRT management.
